A Love Letter to North Carolina

North Carolina has been on my mind a lot lately. When I came upon this love letter, penned by my friend Lara, I immediately tucked it away to share in the future. I live most days with “Carolina on My Mind” – James Taylor and Southern Weddings would be proud. As such, Lara’s sweet snippet of the finest things about that charming place is extra delightful in this New Englander’s eyes. Enjoy!

If you’ve been reading along for some time, you likely know of my dream to move there someday. For new friends, I can best explain that dream as a desire of my heart that I discovered five years ago during a particularly trying season. While most of my friends were wrapping up their senior year of college, I was discovering a whole new slew of ideas and passions that opened my mind up to endless possibilities for the future. I quickly discovered the charm, tradition, and warmth of the South and soon found all roads pointing to the Raleigh area for someday in the future, just not now.

Our trip there in November provided a tangible aspect to that dream I’ve held dear for so long, giving me a sweet taste of what life could be like there. For now, there’s lots of dreaming and praying taking place, all while trying to keep my hands wide open to God’s plan for our life. Perhaps 2019 will be the year when I become a Southerner by residence, but in the meantime I will carry my favorite things about that wonderful place with me through life in New England.

While a few months have passed since our lovely trip to the Old North State, I plan to recount our experience soon in upcoming posts! In the meantime, visit this post for a small glimpse into our travels!
