Bri and Stash’s love story has one very special detail that is unique to them and their history together. They’ve known each other for more than a decade and in many ways, they’ve grown up together. They were introduced through a friend while Bri was working at the Peabody Essex Museum and their lives wove together over the years to form the bond they now share. Both having roots in Salem, Massachusetts, it was absolutely fitting that we captured their portraits in the whimsical gardens of the Ropes Mansion in town. The North Shore is dear to both of them. Their engagement season and waterfront wedding day at Danversport was filled with nods to this magical corner of New England!
Cherished Keepsakes
My favorite moment from their wedding took place early in the day, before the ceremony. Bri and I were standing together in the kitchen of her childhood home. There was so much excitement in the air. She told me that she had something special to share with me and I noticed that she was holding a small box in her hands. Her face lit up as she lifted the lid. Inside were keepsakes she’s held onto for years. There were notes and mementos from Stash, marking their story. One note held the precious words “I love you”, written in crayon on lined notebook paper. She had kept two tiny paper cranes that he’d folded for her in high school. It’s clear that she has always cherished him, and he has always adored her. Together, they make each other better as they build a life that they love.
Even More to Celebrate
My second favorite memory is when out of the blue, Bri reached over and hugged me so big. She thanked us for being there and making their day so special, and it struck me as being so gracious and kind. It wasn’t at the end of the evening – as one might expect – but rather in the middle of their celebration. When the attention could have been solely on them, she graciously thanked us for being there as though we’d been friends forever (it feels like we have!). It was made all the more special by the fact that Saturday was her birthday – giving us even more to celebrate.
Later that day, she suggested we get a photo of her vendor team altogether (included at the end of this post!) and it is an image I will cherish forever, as a building block of these early years of KSP. These are the kinds of moments I once dreamt about. Now I get to live them out and share them with the sweetest couples. I am truly blessed! Enjoy this glimpse into their joyful day!
