Oh, friends, I am delighted to share a very special wedding with you today! Dillon’s youngest brother Ryan married our new sister Kaylee this summer and it was an absolute joy. In the midst of trying times, this farmhouse wedding was exactly what our hearts needed. I think it’s safe to say that their celebration was the highlight of the season for us all!
They hosted their farmhouse wedding in the exact spot where we hosted our reception three years ago, on the lawn of the Shattuck family home. Five years ago, Dillon’s parents bought a beautiful colonial home that used to be a tavern during the American Revolution. It has since become the gathering place for many family dinners, parties, and campfires and is an incredibly special place for all of us children. To host their wedding there meant a lot to Kaylee and Ryan and it truly was the perfect setting for their day!
I remember sitting with them at family dinner shortly after Ryan proposed as they shared their vision of hosting a huge party with all of their family and friends. While the circumstances of this season may have required them to shorten their guest list quite a bit, their wedding day was most certainly not short on love!
Kaylee channeled so much energy into the planning process over the past few months. She crafted each detail with heart and intention. From her joyful yellow bouquet and the wide-open dance floor to the incredible s’mores bar and dance party playlist, she did an amazing job making the day feel so very them.
What stuck out to me most of all from their wedding day was how much fun we all had. There was much laughter and joy to be found in every aspect of their celebration. Everyone was all smiles. Even when the sunny skies quickly turned to a torrential downpour just before the ceremony start time. When you bring people together to celebrate the precious start to married life, you can’t help but see the good.
As the storm moved swiftly past and the warm sun broke through the clouds, we were all reminded of the significance of what was about to take place as Kaylee and Ryan exchanged their vows. I think the rain was ultimately a blessing. It prompted us to slow down and truly savor the gift that their day was. It was a privilege to be a part of it!
After their beautiful ceremony, Ryan whisked Kaylee away in his late Grampy’s antique Chevrolet Nova. They enjoyed a private dinner together before making their grand entrance. From there, the evening was a great big party. There were heartfelt toasts, twirling and dancing, and fireworks. We toasted gooey s’mores over a crackling fire as the prettiest sunset filled the sky. It was a fun-filled celebration that was every bit as joyful as they are.
Kaylee and Ryan, thank you for trusting me to capture this incredibly special day in your life. It was truly an honor and I’m so excited to share a few of my favorite images with you! Your day was such a gift to us all!
