Rachel and Jeff’s day was filled with history. From the setting of their wedding reception, Annisquam Yacht Club, to the homes where they got ready in the village of Annisquam, their day was rich in heirlooms and storied places. It seems fitting to begin our introduction of them with a story about them of our own. Last month, just two days before I took KSP full time, Rachel and Jeff invited us to Annisquam. We got to walk through some of the places that are most special to them and talk through the logistics of their day. One might think it was simply a venue walkthrough. But it was so much more than that.
The Family Dinner
On that rainy May evening, we got to envision their wedding day through their eyes, standing in the very place where they would exchange their vows. And as we walked, we got to hear stories about Rachel’s visits to Annisquam while she was growing up. As a little girl, she used to envision her own wedding day as she watched brides choose Annisquam for their special days and partake in traditions that are sacred to the community. As if that wasn’t special enough, we were then invited to have a family-style dinner around the table with the Langer family in the dining room of their home. We got to break bread and sip wine and have really good conversation, deepening our friendship with them and being welcomed in like family. It was honestly one of the best memories of my career so far.
KSP is about so much more than photography to us. It’s about pouring into others, serving them well, and championing the legacy that they are building together. This is made all the more special and fulfilling when we get to really know our couples prior to their wedding day. Because Rachel and Jeff and their families welcomed us in like we were one of their own, it made everything so much more special.
One of my favorite moments of the day was when Rachel pulled me aside to give a gift to me with the most heartfelt background. She handed me a bag with a beautiful Chappywrap in it, explaining that it’s a tradition in their family to gift one of these blankets to each other during big milestones or transitions. In honor of going full time with KSP, she wanted to share the tradition with me, too. They truly welcomed us in like family and it made this one of my favorite days!
The Magic of Annisquam
As you’ll see in these images, this wedding day was special in so many ways. It was joyful, timeless, well-appointed, and thoughtfully planned. It was relaxing – from the ceremony overlooking the harbor with the perfect view to the stroll from the ceremony spot to the Annisquam Yacht Club for their wedding reception – there was an ease about the day that comes from being right on the coast in a place that feels just like home. We hope these images give you a peek into the magic of their wedding day!
