As a wedding photographer, you get an intimate look at the bonds between a bride and groom and their families. There is no doubt about it: Heather and PJ are surrounded by family and friends who love and care for them deeply. They share relationships that are deeply rooted and close-knit, the makings of a strong family legacy. There’s a comfortability between Heather and PJ and their loved ones that only comes from walking closely through the joyful moments and the hard ones together. Their colorful at-home wedding was a beautiful reflection of their heart for celebrating the good, honoring their loved ones, and having fun with family and friends.
As more and more couples are opting to move forward with their weddings in 2020, modifying their plans to suit the current state of our world, Heather and PJ proved that there’s no reason to delay the start to married life. Neither life nor love nor joy is canceled! Together with their families, they hosted an intimate at-home wedding celebration. How many brides can say that they exchanged their vows at the home where they grew up? That is so incredibly special!
Heather & PJ’s At-Home Wedding
From the moment we arrived at Heather’s family home, the Hillards welcomed us in like family. They have a gift for hospitality and making others feel like they belong. We weren’t the only ones who felt this way! Throughout the day, guests shared stories with me of the countless times they’ve been welcomed in by this family over the years. They shared that they’re always greeted with a warm meal or an encouraging hug and always made to feel welcome. The love in these two families is strong and was evident in every detail of their day!
Heather and PJ’s day was special in so many ways. One of the moments that stood out to me the most was when Heather shared an impromptu first look with her Papa. It was sweet as can be and incredibly special in so many ways. Shortly afterward, PJ got the biggest surprise when his brother turned the corner. All the way from Utah! He had flown in to surprise him and stand beside him as a groomsman! It was such an unexpected gift to have the whole family together and the joy was palpable.
Then, the rain stopped. Typically, late August days are hot and humid in New England, but not for Heather and PJ. The heavy rain in the morning ushered in cool, refreshing air and stopped just in time for their ceremony to begin. It was perfect!
Heather and PJ, thank you so much for inviting me to capture your day. You planned a wedding day that was as fun and joyful as you are! It was an honor to celebrate you as you started your marriage surrounded by family and friends. You are so loved and I’m so grateful that you trusted me to be your photographer!
