Welcome to the KSP blog, a place where I share my work, wisdom, and a peek into my everyday life. I'm so glad you're here and hope you stay awhile!

Hi! I'm Kyla.

There are some conversations that stick with you. My first call with Sam last June was one of those conversations! I was sitting in a Nantucket inn, my laptop perched atop a pile of books. I was traveling to photograph a wedding and was over the moon at the potential opportunity to photograph a wedding at Bedford Village Inn. It’s the closest venue to home for us and has been on my wishlist for years. It’s a quintessential New England inn with quaint details and twinkle lights that sparkle year-round.

Sam gushed about how special BVI is to her and Mike (more on that below!) and shared her vision for having a beautiful spring wedding with perfect weather. By the end of the call, I forgot that I was in Nantucket and instead felt transported into her vision, crossing my fingers and toes that the weather would hold up its part of the deal for her and Mike. We felt like fast-friends and I was so grateful that our paths had crossed.

Where It All Began

Fast-forward to this past fall, when Sam hand-delivered their save the date to me while I was out for happy hours with one of my best friends who is also named Sam. She happened to be at the same restaurant and popped over to say hi with the biggest hug. It’s such a treat to be able to see our brides and grooms outside of their wedding days. Each interaction is an investment in the relationship we share with them! We also had the pleasure of sharing a meal with Sam and Mike this winter at their venue to hear more about their story and the roots they share there.

Bedford Village Inn is the place where Sam and Mike shared their very first date. Much like us, they are both from Southern New Hampshire and grew up just down the road from here. To host their families and closest friends in a place that is central to their story was incredibly special! Their ceremony was made all the more special by the couple inviting Samantha’s brother to serve as the officiant. It is one of my favorite details when the officiant intimately knows the bride and groom and has watched their love story unfold long before the wedding day! Their day was filled with loved ones, twinkle lights, the most beautiful florals, and lots of dancing. It was such an honor to capture it all for them!
