“Izzie chose joy today,” I said to her mama. I’m pretty sure we both had happy tears as we hugged and watched Izzie and Tyler having the time of their lives. Their wedding at the Wychmere Ocean Room was one of the happiest, most joyful celebrations I’ve photographed to date. The love that these two share, and the outpouring of love from their friends and family, shined the brightest that day.

Choosing Joy

Izzie and Tyler are two of the most easy-going, kindest and most appreciative people we’ve met. After their engagement session earlier this year, we’d been counting down the days to their wedding. They had such an incredible vision for their day and we were eager to see it brought to life. As we made our way down to the Cape on the evening before their wedding, it rained hard. As we checked into our hotel, it was raining even harder. And then the wind came. When we woke up on Saturday morning, the forecast showed rain and strong wind for the entire day. And yet even so, we knew that Izzie and Tyler were going to have the best day and that they were going to make the most of every moment.

Fast-forward to later that morning when we arrived to the beach house where Izzie was getting ready. She greeted me with the biggest smile, already glowing with joy. She was so excited to marry Tyler and the weather was an after thought for us all. It was clear that she was choosing joy.

I’ll never forget when I asked her what she envisioned for their first look. We were standing at the window, overlooking a road that was starting to flood. She smiled and said that she still wanted to share that moment with Tyler on the beach, and we fully supported her vision. We all bundled up in rain gear (our cameras included! They have their own rain coats 🙂 ) and made our way to the beach. It was as if time stood still as Izzie and Tyler shared those first moments together, exchanging their vows privately and reveling in their joy. They were happy as can be and their joy carried through every moment of the rest of the day. We’re so honored that we got to be there to capture it all for them! We’re so excited to share these images with you today and invite you into it all 🙂

You two are so special to us for so many reasons! On our whole drive home, we talked about how incredible you two are and the joy that you chose from start to finish on your day. You were the perfect example of making the most of every moment of your wedding day and truly embracing it as it was happening. Thank you for trusting us to walk alongside you and capture your joy, letting us be part of the grand adventure of it all. We’re cheering you on so big as you begin married life together and we’re so thankful for you and your loved ones! We hope these images are a blessing to you both and a sweet reminder of your incredible day 🙂
