Welcome to the KSP blog, a place where I share my work, wisdom, and a peek into my everyday life. I'm so glad you're here and hope you stay awhile!

Hi! I'm Kyla.

Kiara’s equestrian portrait session is a very special one. She is one of Dillon’s five younger sisters, and the most recent high school graduate in our family. We met up for her session on the most perfect afternoon in October. It was peak foliage time in New England and the leaves were as vibrant as they come. The air was crisp, but not too cold. The sun had a golden glow that was casting dappled light through the trees. It really was the perfect fall day.

We started her session in the center of her hometown. It is a storied New England town, with a history rooted in the American Revolution. Charming colonial homes dot the streets. The center of town has an old meeting house and a church with a steeple. The post office closes for lunch each day. There are a few small shops, and neighbors pass as they walk by. They host seasonal festivals and have town meetings. If Stars Hollow had a younger sibling, Francestown just might be it.

As if the first location was not magical enough, we headed to the paddock for the second half of the session. Kiara grew up surrounded by horses and has been riding since she was a little girl. Her mom, my amazing mother-in-law, teaches horseback riding through her business, Saving Grace Farm. Now that she’s older, Kiara teaches lessons, too. It was only natural that we captured the story of her bond with her horse through these images.

To Kiara:

Kiara, you are a bright light in our family and to the world around you! You’re kind, genuine, selfless, and beautiful inside and out. Your love for those around you, including animals, is unmatched. I am so blessed to have you as a little sister, even if you are not so little anymore. You are so loved! Thank you for choosing me to capture your senior photos last fall. I can’t wait to see all the good things God has in store for you!
