Welcome to the KSP blog, a place where I share my work, wisdom, and a peek into my everyday life. I'm so glad you're here and hope you stay awhile!

Hi! I'm Kyla.

The Peters family has a special place in my heart! Jess and I met a few months before my wedding in 2017 and became fast friends. She has a heart of gold and was such a support and encouragement to me as I became a wife! During those days when I was a newlywed, she and Matt were dreaming of growing their family. We used to grab coffee together and talk about our dreams for the future and God’s faithfulness in our lives. It has been an absolute joy to watch their family grow since then. This was not my first portrait session with them – or my second – but my third! I am forever honored when a couple or family returns for portraits year after year.

The Peters family portrait session took place on a beautiful September evening. The sky was the brightest blue and the clouds turned into a cotton candy sunset on the drive home. Matt works hard in the family business, Peters Farm, which has been in the family for four generations. Their portrait session took place just down the road from their farmstand in Salem New Hampshire. Jess had chosen the prettiest field with tall grass and sun-kissed trees. It was a photographer’s dream!

There was plenty of space for Charlie to run and play, too. He kept exclaiming “Deere!”, excited and proud to show me one of their tractors. Most little boys only ever get to play with toy tractors. How fun and special for Charlie that he is surrounded by the real deal!

After their session, we drove down their farmstand where they generously sent me home with armfuls of the freshest corn, tomatoes, zucchini, and more. I left our time together with such a full heart.

To Jess & Matt:

Thank you for choosing me to capture these incredibly important milestones in your family. It is a joy to watch your family grow and to see God’s hand in your life. Charlie is the sweetest little boy with an adventurous spirit. He is going to make the best big brother! Matt, it is so special to see you building your family legacy with Peters Farm. Your children are so lucky to grow up with your strong example of what it looks like to work hard and with a servant’s heart. It is a joy to watch Charlie’s eyes light up when he looks at you and sees you doing what he loves. You are most definitely a superhero in his eyes! Jess, you are a radiant mama. Your tender heart and pure love for your family shine so bright. You were made to do this and you inspire me in the way you approach life with joy and grace. I am so excited to see all the good that is in store for your sweet family in the days ahead! And thank you again for the delicious vegetables! We made homemade potato leek soup with some of them last night and it was the BEST!
